Helen Louise Forrester (nee Stewart)

Helen Louise Forrester passed away on May 20, 2017 at Crest View Care Village, Creston BC.

Helen was the first of five children born to Hector and Helen (Nel) Stewart. As a young woman, Helen loved to sew so she attended a sewing school in Calgary, then worked making apple boxes and crates. In 1952, she married Lloyd Lawrence. Lloyd and Helen farmed and raised four children, Gordon, Bruce, Roy and Maryann. They started out in Lister, then in 1967, the family moved to West Creston where they lived until Lloyd Lawrence's death in 2001.

Helen was an avid gardener and took pride in her flower beds and yard. She helped Lloyd on the farm as well as taking care of the home and the children. She used her sewing skills to create home decor and the childrens' clothes.

Helen married her second husband, Lloyd Forrester in 2003. Helen and Lloyd travelled, visited family and had a great life until his death in 2008.


Helen was predeceased by her father Hector Stewart, her mother Helen (Nel) Stewart, husband Lloyd Lawrence, second husband Lloyd Forrester, her brother Bob Stewart, sister-in-law Ruth Stewart and granddaughter Abbigail Walker.

She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Hubl and Anita Mayfield; brother Ernie (Mia) Stewart; her four children Gordon (Brenda) Lawrence, Bruce (Louise) Lawrence, Roy (Sherry) Lawrence and Maryann (Carroll) Walker, twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 28 at 2:30 pm at New Life Christian Church, 1821 Elm St, Creston.
