Arthur (Art) Norris Biccum

May 5, 1939 ~ July 9, 2011


Arthur (Art) Norris Biccum, age 72, passed away following a lengthy illness on July 9, 2011 surrounded by family.


Art was born in Creston, BC on May 5, 1939.

He received the majority of his education in Creston but his last two years of senior high were spent in Bonners Ferry, Idaho where he graduated in the Class of '58. Art married Pauline Pereverzoff on January 16, 1959 in Creston.

He was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. There isn't a mountain range in the valley that he didn't know. In his younger years he played many sports which included basketball, baseball and boxing. In his later years he loved to snowmobile, four-wheel, curl and golf. He also loved spending time with family and friends, boating and fishing on Kootenay Lake. Art worked for West Kootenay Power (Fortis BC) for 34 years before retiring in 1995. His strength, incredible work ethic, generosity and fun-loving nature is a legacy for his family and was appreciated by all who knew him.


Art was predeceased by his parents, Norris and Mary Biccum; brother Richard; granddaughter Jaida Kooy and nephew Don Spalding.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Pauline; son Don; daughters Laurie (Bud) Heald, Debbie (Anthony) Kooy, Carrie (Rick) Czar; grandchildren Amanda and Riley Biccum, Ashley and Erinn Heald, Jacob Kooy, Reegan, Brayden and Jordin Czar; great-grandchildren Emalee and Ethan Greenwood and Scarlett Biccum; sisters Marlene Toland, Pat (Den) Nelligan; brothers Terry (Sandy) Biccum and Gerald Biccum; his mother-in-law Polly Pereverzoff along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Creston Room of the Creston Community Complex, Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.
