Letter to the Editor,

First of all, I would like to say that I respect and appreciate our firefighters and the work they do for the town of Creston, BUT having said this I have to say why I am voting NO at the referendum on the proposed fire hall. I have recently toured the fire hall and yes I do think they need a new one but not this one, the town council needs to compromise and go back to the drawing board and come back with plans of a more affordable fire hall, one that is safe, functional and cost much less not the 5.3 or 6.1 million. This would be a Win/Win for all involved. The firefighters would get what they need a safe place to work and the taxpayers would not have to dig so deep into their pockets for the taxes to pay for it.

The Mayor and Council said that they have needed a new fire hall for 10 years and yet they have not saved any monies to put towards the new fire hall. There has been no fundraising to offset the cost of this project and now they are saying we are against the firefighters this is not true we want what is best for all involved. Let’s design a fire hall that is more affordable and can have an addition added if or when needed. I am a concerned citizen for all involved.

Please let’s do what is right. Compromise vote no to bill 1861

Deb Knox, Creston
