Students from Prince Charles Secondary School will take to the stage Feb. 13 to show off their talent in After… Ever After, a talent show with framing story segments showing what happened to fairy tale characters after their stories ended.

The characters covered include Cinderella, who has developed a shoe fetish, Peter Pan, who now works at Wendy’s, and Rapunzel, who has cut her famous hair.

“The kids have come up with all the stories,” said drama teacher Brooke Douma.

After… Ever After is more than just a chance for the students to be on stage — it’s also a fundraiser for the Creston Community Auditorium Society’s latest project: new seats for the Prince Charles Theatre.

The society’s campaign kicked off in the fall, with the Creston and District Credit Union matching funds for the first 100 out of about 300 seats, which cost $250.

In addition to the fairy tale sketches, 18 acts have been lined up for the talent show, with students singing, juggling, playing the accordion and harp, reading poetry and dancing.

The evening will be a lot of fun, said Douma, and the audience can come to the show expecting to laugh a lot, and also appreciate the students’ energy and creativity.

“It’s a great way to expose the talent we have in this school,” said Douma. “I think people are surprised when they come to stuff and see just how talented the kids are.”

Tickets for After… Ever After are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, available in Advance at Creative Fix, PCSS and cast members. The show starts at 7 p.m.
