Kootenai Community Centre Society (KCSS) invited Creston to stand up to violence against women Friday night. Creston residents, law enforcement, and the fire department rallied at Millennium Park to raise awareness and raise funds to “Take Back The Night”™ (TBTN).

TBTN events focus on strengthening communities by bringing together people of different races, faith groups, philosophies, genders, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds to shatter the silence surrounding violence against women. “This event provides survivors of violence strength in knowing they are not alone while supporters of the event feel empowered by bringing awareness for the cause.” said Laura Dodman executive director of KCCS.

KCCS vision for the future is to assist and empower women, and their families to live violent-free lifestyles.

KCCS seeks to expand preventive initiatives for empowering women and youth through various supports and groups; working collaboratively with other community agencies in the Creston Valley. Information on how you can make a donation can be found on the KCSS website www.kootenaicommunitycentre.org. KCCS would like to thank Ebby Gregory, Overwaitea Foods, Morris Flowers for the beautiful Sun Flowers, the Creston Valley Advance, and definitely all that participated!
