Creston RCMP were kept busy trying to sort out assault reports at Lower Kootenay and searching for the source of several 911 calls from cellphones, Staff Sgt. Gord Stewart said.

In total, Stewart said police responded to 92 calls from May 10-16.

May 10

•A 25-year-old male who refused to leave a business in the 1500 block of Canyon Street was arrested for being drunk in public and held until sober.

•A report of a child being spanked by a babysitter in the 5900 block of Birch Avenue was referred to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

May 11

•When police traced the source of a 911 call to the 2700 block of Highway 3 the caller said a defective cellphone was to blame.

•When police found a male reported to be acting suspiciously in the 1500 block of Cook Street they found he had previously been associated with two indecent acts in another community. He assured police he was leaving town.

•When police stopped a speeding vehicle in the 2700 block of Highway 3 they noted the odor of burnt marijuana. A small quantity of marijuana was seized and the driver’s licence was suspended for 24 hours. He was issued a speeding ticket and his vehicle was impounded, also for 24 hours.

May 12

•A male reported his parked vehicle was hit in the 1000 block of Canyon Street. The driver left the scene, leaving behind a note with incorrect information.

•Police are investigating the report of a male being assaulted by a group of males in a rental dispute in the 1800 block of Corn Creek Road.

•A warning letter has been sent to the owner of a black Mustang reported to be driving erratically on Canyon-Lister Road at 12th Street.

May 13

•A 36-year-old intoxicated male who passed out at a park on Riverview Road was arrested for being drunk in public. He was held until sober and released with a ticket.

•A 1997 Dodge Dakota was scratched during the night in the 300 block of 20th Avenue North.

•A roadside check of 150 drivers on Northwest Boulevard at Pine Street resulted in only one infraction, the three-day driving suspension of a 70-year-old male who blew a warn level on an alcohol screening device.

May 14

•A male reported he was assaulted by another male in the 3500 block of Centre Road. When police investigated they found that several males had required treatment at the hospital as a result of the fight. The investigation continues.

•A white Dodge pickup truck stolen from the 4200 block of Pine Street was located, damaged from an accident. Police have no witnesses or suspects.

•When police traced a 911 cellphone caller to Pilot Bay Road, they learned the person was OK.

•A male was arrested after police received a report that two males had assaulted another male in the 5500 block of Centre Road.

•A male reported being assaulted by another male in the 1000 block of Simon Road.

“This was one of an ongoing series of assault incidents and it’s going to take a while for us to sort all out all the stories,” Stewart said.

•Police are investigating a report about a boat being taken from the 8000 block of Highway 3A for an apparent joy ride on Duck Lake.

May 15

•Police have no suspects or witnesses in a spray painting vandalism incident in the 900 block of Railway Boulevard.

•A male who was behaving erratically in Riondel was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and eventually taken to Cranbrook hospital for treatment.

May 16

•Police are investigating a report from the 7700 block of Highway 3 that a female was assaulted by her partner.

•A blue and white CCM Descent bike was stolen from the 1600 block of Canyon Street.

•Police advised a female that her complaint that her ex-partner had changed the locks on their residence was a civil one.
