For our 2017-2018 season we are excited to present our new series six performances for our regular series comprised of SIX interchangeable tickets for the program running from November through April, plus a free (non interchangeable) ticket for a special additional presentation to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary! Early bird packages will be available at the Fall Fair on September 8 and 9. Many of our shows are weekend matinees so if you’ve always wanted to bring young people but it’s past their bedtimes, this is a great opportunity to include them in some wonderful performances!

We open on Wednesday September 27, 2017 7:30 p.m. with Oh Canada We Sing for Thee, a special two hour celebration of Canada’s finest singers and songwriters. What better way to celebrate Canada’s 150th than a lavish production featuring music of the Canadian musicians we all know and love such as Ian and Sylvia, Stompin’ Tom Connors, Anne Murray, Leonard Cohen, k.d. Lang, The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Shania Twain and many, many others. (This bonus performance is in addition to our regular package of six interchangable tickets; the ticket must be used for this show).

We’ve heard the tenors, now it’s time to enjoy the baritones. Sunday November 5th 2017 3:00 p.m. we present Bravura, three of Canada’s finest leading men in musical theatre, jazz, and opera. Bravura bring us the best from the classical world as well as Broadway, pop and Italian folk and popular tunes. Bravura’s repertoire ranges from classic and classical. Experience a deep, unmistakably masculine sound that covers the full range of the bass clef and beyond.

To start off 2018, Buzz Salutes Gershwin performs Sunday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. This Montreal brass quintet is a true musical phenomenon, having in its repertoire exceptional chamber music performances ranging from classical music to present day jazz and blues standards. Their stage productions bursting with energy, astonishing originality, extraordinary musicianship and a brassy humour all its own. Accompanied by piano, Buzz pays homage to the celebrated American composer George Gershwin, evoking all the brilliance and intensity of a symphonic orchestra.

Inspired by elements of the country’s heritage and cultural diversity found in urban areas, Zogma performs Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. An enthralling, highly energetic production, at the crossroad of modernity and tradition, Zogma is a dynamic ensemble of young dancers from Montreal whose repertoire is built on the foundation of Quebecois step dancing. Whether you enjoy traditional folk music and dance or appreciate the creativity taking place at the leading edge of urban culture, you will love Zogma.

It’s been ten years since the dynamic Joe Trio played in Creston but we haven’t forgotten them and are delighted to announce that they are still going strong. They appear Sunday March 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. More than virtuosi, the Trio’s members are fantastic performers who engage the audience in a way few classical musicians can. Amply witty, charming, and tremendously musical, Joe Trio leaves audiences with a new appreciation for classical music, proving that it can be great fun!

We are pleased to also bring back The Symphony of the Kootenays on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. SOTK is a professional and celebrated cornerstone of the regional music and culture scenes led by music and artistic director Jeff Faragher, who brings a youthful passion and energy to the orchestra. Always popular with Creston audiences, SOTK returns with a delightful program of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture, Haydn’s 100th Symphony and Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto.

Finally, what happens when a poet, an author, a composer, his lover, and a book-loving stripper all move into the same house in quiet, wartime Brooklyn? Find out in our closing show of the season on Friday, April 27th, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. with Bohemians in Brooklyn, a potent mix of cabaret, social history, very juicy gossip, glorious music and all parts fun. Mixing classical chamber music, history, storytelling and original popular song, and presented by CBC 2’s Tom Allen, this is the story of the brownstone in the 1940s where WH Auden, Benjamin Britten, Carson McCullers and Gypsy Rose Lee all lived together.
