Calls for police assistance have dropped, as they typically do, after the busy July-August season. Creston RCMP responded to 77 calls for service from September 5-11, Cpl. Darren Kakuno said on Tuesday.

September 5

• A decorative brown bear was stolen from an 11th Avenue North property. • A reported abandoned vehicle on Riondel Road North was determined to belong to someone camping in the area. • Hitting the accelerator instead of the brake in a Northwest Boulevard parking lot led a driver to crash into a sign. No injuries were reported. The driver got a ticket for driving without due care.

September 6

• An eastbound truck was reported to be losing plastic bags from its load. The report was referred to Cranbrook police, who located the truck and issued a warning. • A downed utility line on Hillside Street was determined not to be a hazard as no power lines were involved. • A individual agreed to leave the hospital after police were called to deal with a disturbance. • A participant in a reported dispute at Railway Boulevard and Canyon Street was arrested for causing a disturbance and held in cells until sober.

September 7

• Police are investigating a complaint about a driver who threw a cigarette out the window on Northwest Boulevard. • Police are recommending charges after a no contact order was breached.

September 8

• Numerous power tools were stolen from an unlocked truck on 15th Avenue North. Missing items include a Milwaukee angle grinder, impact driver, drill, charger, batteries and several hand tools. • After receiving a complaint police located a driver who had tossed a cigarette butt from his vehicle. He was issued a ticket for $1,150. • A child reported missing in the Gray Creek area was found hiding soon after the call to police.

September 9

• Police received a report that animal rights activists were demonstrating at the 4-H auction at the Fall Fair. The group left peaceably after voicing their concerns.

September 10

• A male found lying on a sidewalk near 14th Avenue North and Canyon Street was arrested for public intoxication and held in cells until sober. • Police were called to a road rage incident at the scales at Highway 3/95. Two motorcyclists had confronted a driver who they felt had tried to run them off the road at the end of a passing lane.

September 11

•Police were unable to locate a male who threatened an individual who put garbage in a recycling bin in Kitchener.
