Bad behaviour, some fueled by alcohol, was the running theme as Creston RCMP responded to 57 calls for assistance from April 10-17, Staff Sergeant Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.
April 10
• Two collisions and a person caught driving while suspended kept officers busy.
• When police attended to a single vehicle crash the intoxicated driver was found behind the wheel, with the engine running. An impaired driving charge was the result.
April 11
• An investigation by the RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation Unit into pornographic images being uploaded locally concluded that the source computer had been hacked by an unknown party.
• When police investigated a complaint about a break and entry attempt they determined a previous tenant had entered to locate some belongings.
April 12
• A local business complained about an unwelcome male who keeps visiting and to ask for promotional (free) items and then gets angry when asked to leave. The suspect is known to police and the situation is being addressed.
April 13
• Police were unable to locate an unidentified male reported to have gone to a house late at night, asking to be let in “to party.”
• A person in a vehicle checking on properties late at night resulted in a number of calls from Kitchener and Wynndel. Patrols were unsuccessful in locating the vehicle.
April 14
• A window of a local business was broken overnight but no theft was noted.
• An elderly customer has been spoken to by police after a local business complained about his unwelcome romantic comments and advances.
April 15
• When police set up a traffic stop in Crawford Bay a man approached to report suspicious abandoned property at his business. An investigation revealed that a 5th wheel trailer and 20-foot ski boat was the property of a man now in an Alberta jail. He had apparently purchased the items, which had been stolen in Coleman in 2016.
April 16
• A person was advised not to allow access or contact by an ex-partner after complaining about harassing communications over social media.
• Meeting someone through a casual dating app did not go well with a local man. After meeting the “date” and spending time together, the mane said the suspect asked for a ride home, then robbed him while brandishing a knife. Police remind the public to be vigilant when meeting people on line.
