It’s a Spring Thing.

Cudoes, Creston. Yes, the month of March marks the march to spring, but we must also take a moment to remember this month also commemorates nine months of metamorphosis. Meaning…

It’s been nine months since our fledgling group, OUTspoken, had its first event. From that day, July 8, 2018, we have steadily grown in confidence, experience, and Pride. However, part of what makes our growth special is the inspiring amount of community support we’ve received. Our events could not have happened if our open requests and inquiries on Facebook were met with indifference. Thank you to the business owners who have donated donuts, gift cards, treats, and prizes for our monthly events. To those who have come to me personally to discuss the articles found on these very pages, I appreciate our talks. Also, we must not forget the Creston Valley Advance for letting us nudge our way into the public once a month.

To show our appreciation to the town of Creston we at OUTspoken have decided in this months article we’ll set the Gay Agenda back in Glamdora’s Box for awhile and do an activity that we all can get behind Spring Cleaning!

Put the newspaper down and look outside. If it’s a clear day you’ll instantly see a picturesque mountaintop caked in a healthy frosting of snow, illuminated by God’s radiant sun and a few wisps of cloud, placed so low amidst the granite heap that one would venture forth and pluck it. Then the Flats laid out like a grid, restricted only by West Creston, yet ever reaching as it fades into imagination beyond Duck Lake.

Or perhaps you are overlooking the orchards of Erickson anticipating the literal cornucopia of fruits and vegetables that flood our dear valley. Close your eyes and smell, that even now, as Old Man Winter is finally tiring, the smell of tree prunings, rejuvenation, and courageous seedlings waft in the air.

Now, look down three inches from your left shoe. Y’see that cigarette butt? How about that Timmy’s cup?

This Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 o’clock we will be meeting in the PCSS parking lot. From there we will be picking up litter in an effort to help keep our town pristine! Garbage bags and such will be provided but please remember to dress for the season. It’s spring so…all of them. Dress for all of them. For more details and information please go to our Facebook page OUTspoken and while you’re there, give it a Like. We appreciate it and we appreciate you Creston.
