Musical performers Saskia and Darrel, now rebranded as The Great Plains, are making a return visit to Creston on Sunday.

The popular duo, who describe themselves as “plain folk making great music”, will perform folk, bluegrass, Celtic and gospel tunes at Christ Church Anglican. Proceeds from the concert go to the Creston Ministerial Association, which in addition to the annual Christmas hamper project, supports local needs year-round.

“The Great Plains is merely a name; something to appease the trending styles dictated by the music industry, festival producers, and venue hosts,” they say. “We’re still the same old Saskia & Darrel.”

The Creston Refugee Committee will also benefit from the concert when audience members purchase goodies during the intermission. The Great Plains take to the stage on September 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at Black Bear Books. More information about the travelling couple can be found on their web site at www. thegreatplains.ca
