Jon Turk will take his audience on a transglobal journey in Crocodiles and Ice on Oct. 22.

In storytelling fashion, backed by stunning imagery, Jon Turk will take his audience on a transglobal journey in Crocodiles and Ice, a presentation of Wildsight.

His adventures include sea kayaking in the Solomon Islands, the circumnavigation of Ellesmere Island in the polar Arctic, a bicycle ride across the Tibetan plateau to the birthplace of the Dalai Lama, and into our own backyards. These journeys constitute a quest for the “spiritual revolution” that must underlie humanity’s greater journey into the 21st century — with a reasonable hope of creating a peaceful, equitable, healthy, and sustainable world.

The National Geographic Society nominated Turk and his partner, Erik Boomer, as one of the 10 top adventure athletes of 2012 for their Ellesmere Island circumnavigation. Turk has written three books about his previous adventures, Cold Oceans, In the Wake of the Jomon and The Raven’s Gift. As a storyteller, he studied theater and stage movement in Boston, and has spoken at the Lincoln Center in New York City, the New York Explorers Club, the Banff and Telluride film festivals, and a few hundred other venues.

Admission to the presentation, which runs 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Rotacrest Hall, is $8. For more information, visit www.jonturk.net.

Wildsight’s fall 2013 series continues on Nov. 12 with retired ski guide and mountaineer Bernard Faure’s presentation on glaciers of the Rocky Mountains. Faure has been leading people on walks on the Athabasca Glacier for nine summers. With an admission of $8, the presentation begins at 7 p.m. at Rotacrest Hall. $8.00 at the door. Wildsight bylaw changes will follow.
